first edition, second issue with corrected page numbers. A chronicle of Jesuit efforts from 1598 to 1604 including Peru, the Philippines, China, and elsewhere. Most notable is an early summary of Champlain's 1603 first voyage to Canada on pages 415-424. European Americana 605/21; JCB, page II:34; Palau 50667; Sabin 11627n. While the 1605 second edition appears occasionally, we know of no other first editions at auction since a Swann sale, 20 April 1972, lot 79.
