Additional Details

'vacation and recreation without humiliation,' the motto of this rare travel guide for the use of colored families. Like Victor Green's 'Green Travel Guide,' this little volume would have been indispensible for African American travelers facing discrimination at hotels, motels and filling stations across the American South, not to mention other areas where one could face unpleasant surprises. The guide, first issued in 1946 is arranged alphabetically from Alabama to west Virginia with some suggestions for Canada, Mexico, Haiti and the Caribbean as well as the Philippines. Noted African Americans are profiled here and there throughout. OCLC does not locate any other copies of this guide.
