Archive with more than 560 photographs of trolley cars in metropolitan and rural locations in Massachusetts, with additional images of buses. Each print is carefully annotated with an inventory number, location, date and the manufacturer of of the bus; about 50 are reprints from the early 1900s. Ferrotyped silver prints, approximately 3 1/4x5 1/2 inches (8.3x14 cm.), and slightly smaller, many with an inventory number in the negative and handwritten notations, in ink, on verso; 8 are 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), with Cambridge hand stamps on verso. 1900s-40; printed circa 1960

Additional Details

A thorough compilation of prints that relate to the phenomenon known as "trainspotting" (the activity of watching trains and writing down their numbers). The photographs depict public modes of transportation that mostly range from 1932 through 1940; all of the photographic prints were made about 1960.
