Interesting survival. The Gibbs brothers were the brains behind the "United States," overseeing every bit of its construction and launching. The telegrams from William to his brother are quoted in Braynard's The Big Ship: The Story of the S.S. United States, pages 120 and 124. A copy of the book is included with this lot.
