Additional Details

A monumental achievement in the mapping of South America, this is considered to be the first comprehensive atlas of modern Venezuela. Codazzi provides in-depth geographical and political information of the country as it was evolving during the early period of the nineteenth-century. Additional consideration is given to the surrounding countries of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Colombia honored his cartographic achievements by attaching his name to their national geographic society, the Instituto Geográfico Agustin Codazzi. Phillips, Atlases 2775.
