José Antonio Páez (1790-1873) was a revolutionary hero of Venezuela and its most important leader in the early years of independence. This letter was written just a month before Páez declared Venezuela independent from Gran Colombia and assumed office as president. with--a manuscript edict by Matias Salazar (1828-1872), a military leader in Antonio Guzmán Blanco's revolutionary government and provisional president of Carabobo State.
