Group of military letters signed by the revolutionary and future president of Venezuela. 3 Letters Signed as deputy chief of Simón Bolívar's general staff in the revolutionary army, to Brigadier General Tomás Montilla (1787-1822). Each one page, 8 x 6 1/2 inches, plus integral address leaf; each docketed in the left margin, with small tape stain, otherwise minor wear; the last two letters are on "Exercito Libertador de Venezuela" letterhead. Carlos Soublette (1789-1870) was an important figure in the war for Venezuelan independence, and later served almost six years as the nation's president. The last letter in this group requests that 100 horses and provisions be sent down to Orinoco for General José Francisco Bermúdez. with--Carlos Soublette. Letter Signed as Secretary of War to the commander of the Department of Orinoco. One page, 10 x 8 1/4 inches, plus integral blank; minor wear. Caracas, 4 January 1830.
