Additional Details

The F.T.A. Cabaret was a countercultural touring show to promote opposition to the war, educate soldiers about conscientious objector status, and provide an alternative to Bob Hope's pro-war U.S.O. Tour. The name was an abbreviation for either "Free the Army" or "Fuck the Army." It was sponsored by the anti-war United States Servicemen's Fund. This performance was held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, near Fort Ord in Monterey, CA. It featured performances by actors Jane Fonda, Donald Sutherland, Gary Goodrow, and Peter Boyle; and music by Big Brother & the Holding Company (Janis Joplin's old band) and folksinger Barbara Dane. Folk singer Len Chandler's name is added to the bill with an inked stamp; also added by stamp is the request for "G.I.s & others, pick up tickets in advance." The poster features a central image of a fist clenching dog tags attached to a peace sign.
