Additional Details

Features an early editorial cartoon, "the Good Strong Ship Massachusetts," in favor of Governor Caleb Strong's re-election campaign. The ship flies banners reading "No war! No embargo! No conscription!" and "Peace, Honor, Prosperity!" Strong is remembered today for his vehement objection to the War of 1812, refusing to call out troops for the army, and later attempting to negotiate a separate peace with England.
