Darius Kinsey (1869-1945) was the preeminent photographer of the northwestern logging industry. This image may be compared to those reproduced on page 166 in Dave Bohn and Rodolfo Petschek's "Kinsey, Photographer" (San Francisco, 1978). Provenance: Sotheby's New York, 17 April 1991, lot 106, stating that the photograph once hung in the offices of a Midwestern lumber yard; to the present owner.
