Additional Details

Fetherston was an Englishman writing in Knaresborough, Yorkshire who described these tales in his preface as "minor works of the imagination." Among the seven yarns are "How Jim Bolton Tackled the Grizzly Bear," "A Fight with Indians and Buffaloes, "A Negro's Tale of a Tail," and "A Cache in the Rocky Mountains." Howes F106; not in Graff or Sabin. OCLC lists only 3 copies, all bearing the wrapper notation "third thousand"; the present copy has no such note, apparently making it the untraced first issue; no copies of any issue known at auction.
