These views were taken the year the railroad came to this western Colorado mining and ranching town. One view shows a man riding a steer; in the background is a sign reading "M.M. Jones, Jr., Real Estate & Mines." It is titled on verso "Gunnison Water Works." The other is titled "Children's Winter Sports in Gunnison," showing boys and girls enjoying sleds pulled by donkeys.
