Additional Details

Features lithographs after drawings by Texan artist Charles Schuchard. The two maps are "Port of San Diego Surveyed by the U.S. Boundary Commission" and "The World Illustrating the Course of Trade from Europe to Asia across the Continent of America." Graff and Howes call this a greatly expanded second edition of Gray's similar "Texas Western Railroad" on 1855, but Wagner-Camp insists that it is an entirely different publication. The last example at auction, in 2001, brought $23,000; it was also incomplete. Graff 1626; Howes G331 ("unrivalled Southwestern views"--"b"); Sabin 28375; Wagner-Camp 275.
