Additional Details

An image from the 4th of July celebration at the silver boomtown of Tonopah in central Nevada. Wyatt Earp had lived there three years earlier. These exotically dressed men hold a banner reading "Mizpah Lodge No. 25, K of P, Tonopah, Nev." They were members of the national fraternal order, the Knights of Pythias. Tonopah also had a Mizpah Mine, and its Mizpah Hotel is still in operation. Was the lodge named after the hotel? The hotel named after the mine? The mine named after the lodge? One thing we feel sure of: it's not a coincidence.
