Additional Details

Searchlight is a gold-mining town not far south of Las Vegas, best known as the hometown of politician Harry Reid. This Independence Day celebration featured two unlikely hosts: Hollywood stars Clara Bow and Rex Bell, who both had vacation homes in the area. Not coincidentally, they were married later that year. Also on offer were a terrapin derby, a performance by the Needles band, bronco busting, and bulldogging "by movie stars and cow punchers."
