A clean wide-margined copy of an important history by a Jamaican planter. One of the plates is the infamous "Sable Venus," which attempted to glamorize the horrors of the slave trade. "In two volumes . . . Second edition." This set does not include the 1801 Historical Survey of the Island of Saint Domingo, which was issued seven years later as Volume III. Cundall 2095; Sabin 21901.
