Additional Details

Printed provisioning list for whaling voyages published by Taber, Gordon & Co., ship chandlers and grocers of New Bedford. The thorough listing includes everything from flour to salt pork to rivets and barrel staves to wool pants and sail cloth, leaving the recto of the facing leaf blank for notes by the provisioner. Several items in the list have been marked, and manuscript lists for several ships appear on the blank leaves. The final leaves of the book are blank, ten pages of which contain shopping lists for various ships, dated from 1869 to 1871. These include the Gay Head, the Oriole, and the Emma C. Jones.
