(WHALING.) Shipping paper for the brig Agenora, listing its crew and their shares. Partly printed document completed in manuscript, 16 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches; foxing, minor wear, manuscript calculations on verso. Fairhaven, MA, July 1817

Additional Details

The list names master Stanton Burtch and 15 crew members, each with their position and their share. Captain Burtch was to receive one fifteenth share of the profits; oarsman Joseph Jones was due for one-one hundred and tenth, while John Brooks as cabin boy and apprentice was apparently uncompensated. Starbuck suggests that the Agenora departed for the Brazilian whaling grounds on 5 August, but was "withdrawn for merchant service, and sunk off Bermuda 1818" (page 225).
