(WINDOW DISPLAYS) A large group of approximately 190 photographs of window displays from various American department stores, most from the same agency.
The set primarily shows photographs from Views & Reviews, a Retail Reporting Bureau in New York City, and includes elaborate displays from B. Altman, Lord & Taylor, De Pinna, Franklin Simon, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and more. Most of the prints with a small color negative inserted into a cutout in the lower right corner. Also includes 10 printed sheets from Views & Reviews with a typed caption and print inserted into corners from 1940-42. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 7 1/4x9 1/4 (38) and 4 1/4x6 1/4 (more than 160) inches (18.4x23.5 and 10.8x15.9 cm.), and the reverse, each with the agency's name and address, the name of the department store, additional "Set Up" caption information, and occasionally a date, printed on recto.
