Additional Details

"I go forth alone," the pioneering Bonney said, "try to get the truth and then bring it back and try to make others face it and do something about it." She is best-known for her photographs made during WWII focusing on the uprooting of innocent civilians, including children. In one of these images, perhaps the most recognized portrait of her, Bonney is shown wearing a medal, likely the the Croix de Guerre, which she was awarded in 1941.
