Additional Details

A professionally produced beauty magazine run by a Black executive editor, veteran journalist Dolores Calvin (1928-1973). Includes styling tips, a question and answer section, and a spread on the Cosmetic Manufacturers Association trade show. The magazine also employed a "Spanish advisor," José Figueras. At the rear are 4 pages of "Flaire en Español," including a feature on a beauty supply dealer in Puerto Rico. No other copies of this issue have been traced. Only 2 issues are known to survive per OCLC: Harvard has only issue no. 1 from late 1960, and Wisconsin Historical Society has only issue no. 6 from June 1961.
