The book "Our Hair" has no title page, but begins with 8 pages of text: an introduction promises to "introduce styles for the 80s," followed by interviews with stylist Joyce Gordon on "Our Hair," with braid artist Kalimah, and with makeup artist Gail Mack on "Our Skin." The remainder of the book is devoted to photographs of their work on a variety of models in both color and black and white, artistically rendered by photographer Abdul Raheem Muhammad, who was also the copyright holder.
The poster serves as an advertisement for the book. One side reads simply "Our Hair" with ordering information. The verso promotes a companion volume (not present) titled "Our Hair: Technical Manual." It is billed as "A Style Book & Spanish Bi-Lingual Manual for the Student."
We can find no mention of this book or poster in OCLC or elsewhere, but a Berkeley salon called "Our Hair by Joyce Gordon" was listed in Bay-area newspapers in 1984.
