Additional Details

This photograph is uncaptioned, but may show students at the Henderson Business College, which opened a campus in Memphis in 1916. The founder George W. Henderson was described in the Memphis Commercial Appeal on 28 May 1916 as "the speediest Negro typist in the world." The photograph was by the Hooks Brothers studio, the city's leading Black photographers, who were in operation from 1906 through the 1970s.
