Additional Details

A satirical 41-line poem about a women's rights convention, apparently written in response to the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention or one of the other related conventions which soon followed. The male author details some of "The wonderful things too strange to mention / Which lately I saw at a Ladies Convention," including the efforts to find "Some practical method which women may use / To make the man wear their domestic shoes / And keep eyes on domestic cares / While they take care of the nation's affairs." Retreating in horror, the author concludes: "And I hope curiosity will never attract my attention / To call in again at a Ladies Convention." An attractive piece, with an ornamental signature.
