Additional Details

This photograph was reproduced in numerous newspapers and magazines across the country as part of the national effort to promote Liberty Bonds. It was part of a series of patriotic images which established Charlotte Elizabeth (Houston) Fairchild (1876-1927) as a prominent photographer. Seen here posing as the Statue of Liberty was Miss Frances Fairchild (1899-1943), a recent debutante and not coincidentally the photographer's daughter.
