Additional Details

The program describes the event as "Service Flag Raising, Neighborhood Boys of 49th Street," held between 1st and 2nd Avenues (the block is now just north of the United Nations headquarters). Dozens of local organizers and donors are listed, as well as an honor roll of local servicemen. The photographs show a plaque naming the same honor roll of servicemen, as well as an enormous banner reading "Our Boys, Always in Our Hearts." Speakers and a city block full of attendees are shown, with flags draping many of the windows.
