Additional Details

This volume was produced in praise of nine Japanese submarine crew members who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Five midget submarines were sent in to begin the attack which brought the war to the United States. It was expected to be a suicide mission, which proved to be correct--none of the submarines returned to Japan (one of these destroyed subs was discovered on the seabed in Pearl Harbor in 2002). This book offers a very different perspective on the war than we are accustomed to hearing; we recommend keeping it far away from American World War Two veterans, who might be inclined to destroy it. Why it was produced in English is a question we cannot answer, but the Japanese colophon warns that it is not for sale. 6 copies in OCLC, and none known at auction.
