(WORLDWIDE TRAVEL) A dynamic archive of about 2600 travel snapshots from Asia, Northern Africa, Western Europe, and the United States. This rich archive of travel snapshots combines amateurs and local professional photographers with high quality images and seems to retrace a world tour by sea, with an emphasis on sacred and historical sites in Italy, Egypt, and India. The imagery shows cities, scenes of street life, sacred sites and architectural highlights, but also their environment with details of vegetation. The images depict Italy (approx. 200 images of Napoli, Amalfi coast, Perugia (Assisi), Venice and cities of Sicily), the Alps (approx. 70 images with a focus on the Matterhorn Mountain), Egypt & North Africa (approx. 500 images of Tunis, Cairo, St Catherine region with the Mont Sinai, and Suez Canal), India (approx. 800 images), Burma (approx. 70 images of Rangoon and its neighborhood), China (approx. 70 images), and Japan (approx. 250 images, many of Kofu). The set also features Hawaii (approx. 150 images), the Caribbean (approx. 140 images of Havana and Nassau), and the coasts and sites of the United States (approx. 460 photos of Florida, New England, and Grand Canyon). There are also about 150 panoramas, mostly of India, but also Paris, Marseille, and the Suez Canal. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 2x3 inches (5x7.6 cm.) and 5x3 1/2 inches (12.7x8.9 cm.), and the reverse, and 2 1/2x7 5/8 inches (6.4x20 cm.), many with the name of the city, inventory number or country initials in pencil on verso.
