Additional Details

Strindberg, 27 June 1885: ". . . [Y]our sympathetic and kind review in the Memorial Diplomatique . . . appeared just when my editor had given up all hope of seeing any word of our work in Paris. Except for yours and Voltaire's . . . , nothing else appeared in Paris as far as I know. Being away, I . . . must rely on your kindness to keep me up-to-date. . . ."
With--Printed program for Strindberg's funeral, held on May 19, 1912, containing two prayers attributed to Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie and Johan Olof Wallin. 4 pages, small 8vo. 1912.
In 1884, Strindberg's first collection of short stories was published in Sweden (Giftas [Getting Married]). The book contained a preface in which Strindberg voiced support for women's rights. Soon after, Strindberg was prosecuted for "blasphemy against God or mockery of God's word or sacrament"--a charge of which he was later acquitted.
