Additional Details

Limited to a printing of 250 copies, the finely rendered plates of campus plans, views and architecture illustrate Pope's proposal to expand the university in the early twentieth century. The folding plates juxtapose the contemporary layout against Pope's plan for the future. Little of his suggestions were actually implemented, with James Gamble Rogers ultimately overseeing much of the Collegiate Gothic re-design of the campus in the decade following this proposal. It is a fascinating glimpse at what might have been, and a beautiful book for any proud Yalie.
