Additional Details

"Should Arnold think fit to make a diversion this way before your assistance arrives, he will find a very easy conquest. . . . Our force is at present little more than four hundred men, & these are with the utmost difficulty kept from going home, having been out since the first of the invasion." Adds that Weedon should not expect to find field officers on the far end of the neck to take charge of his new recruits other than Lieutenant Colonel Dabney. During peacetime, Andrews was a clergyman and William and Mary professor.
