Additional Details

Rare advertising brochure aimed at the mass of hopeful stampeders flocking to the Klondike gold strike in Canada's upper Yukon Territory during the final years of the nineteenth century. The large map, centered on Dawson City, is configured with little topographical information and only a few sparse trails leading to the promising region. The map itself may have provided limited reassurance to prospective miners for actually assisting to reach the gold fields, but the bold advertisements of a half-dozen Vancouver outfitters surely could have been persuasive enough to instill such confidence in potential panners that with the proper gear and provisions, they too could complete the arduous journey to riches.

"If you are young, strong, healthy and endowed with unlimited patience and fortitude, founded on good solid principles, of healthy, moral, vigorous manhood, and look forward to the improvement of yourself in every way as contributing to the moral and physical advancement of mankind generally, and can command enough means to land you at Dawson with TWELVE MONTHS SUPPLIES and the NECESSARY IMPLEMENTS, I would say you could not do any better anywhere than on the Yukon".
