1993 MARCH ON WASHINGTON

"Our freedom was not won a century ago . . . " It's a Simple Matter of Justice.
Poster, 24 x 20 inches; minor wear and minimal foxing. Chicago: Progress Printing, 1993.

Features a long quotation by Martin Luther King, Jr. and a photograph by Kevin Kendall. We have traced no other examples of this poster in OCLC or at auction, and one copy at the Center for the Study of Political Graphics. Lesbian activist and essayist Sheila Morris featured her own personal copy (not this one) in a 2020 post on her blog "I'll Call it Like I See It": "I marched with the South Carolina delegation in the 1993 March on Washington. It was a life-changing experience not only for me but for hundreds of thousands of LGBT folks and their straight allies. I loved that the commemorative poster for the event featured a quote from one of the Civil Rights movement leaders I most admired: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The framed poster has been hanging in every office of mine since then."
