The "Great Airshow" of Bar-le-Duc aimed to capitalize on the growing public interest in all things aeronautic and offered the public aerial demonstrations of four planes - two monoplanes by Blériot and Antoinette, and two biplanes by Darman and Voisin. The adventurous among the attendees could even ascend in one of two hot air balloons named Vix and La Ville de Bar-le-Duc. Although bad weather rendered the event an overall failure, the poster effectively captured the romanticism and grandeur associated with this early time in aeronautics. Here, a pilot highlighted in the red of a setting sun flies his Blériot XI past Bar-le-Duc's 12th century clock tower in a sky filled with various other aircraft. L'Histoire de l'Aviation p. 60 (var).
