Condition A: vertical and horizontal folds.
Scattered around the foot of the Pyrenees are a number of spas that boast both thermal baths and sulfer springs. Their popularity grew as soon as they became reachable by train in the middle of the 19th century. The spas flourished as rejuvenative get-a-ways for the upper classes who could afford their services. Veterans and officers who returned from distant colonies to France were eager to take the waters at these elegant resorts, no doubt both as a purgative of the hardships of distant lands, as well as a flashy reintroduction to French society. Trinquier-Trianon, who specialized in travel posters, depicts an elegant and reassuring scene of the spa at Boulou. Depicting colonial officers, elegant couples and children, it was just the kind of image that would have served to attract more bourgeois clients.
