A brightly colored and almost mesmerizingly-stylized Art Deco image advertising travel to "El Levante." Situated on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, this is an area that comprises communities including Valencia, Catalonia, and eastern Andalusia. The idyllic, if somewhat vague setting can be better understood in the context of an English language version of this same poster which reads "Visit Spain-Mediterranean Fruits and Flowers." The poster also exists with that same text in German and Spanish. This Spanish-language version boasts much more stylized and impressive typography than any of the other variations. In 1928, the Patronato Nacional del Turismo (PNT) was created by King Alfonso XIII to boost tourism in the region, and also to bring publicity to Spanish heritage worldwide, often through artwork.
