Abbott wrote about this sitting: "He came to my studio in 1928. That was when he told me about the severe trouble he had with his eyes . . . he still had to wear his hat to shade his eyes . . . He was a very amusing and animated man and it was a good session. Afterward we looked at Atget photographs and he liked them a lot, particularly the one of the dummies without heads in the clothing store window."
