ABEL TRUCHET (1857-1918) DANSEUSES / LE QUADRILLE. Two decorative panels. Circa 1900.
25 1/2 x 33 inches. Printed by Eugene Vernau. Paris.
Condition Varies. Generally A. Paper
Truchet was a familiar of Montmartre's cabarets and nightlife. This pair of decorative panels is based on his experiences inside the Moulin Rouge, and they are a charming and evocative (if somewhat romanticized) depiction of some of the dancing that took place within. Gold 203-4.
