ABRAHAM WALKOWITZ
Three watercolors of Isadora Duncan.

Watercolor and pen and black ink, one over pencil, on paper. Each approximately 255x200 mm; 10x7 7/8 inches. Each signed in pen and black ink, lower right recto.

Acquired directly from the Estate of Abraham Walkowitz by the current owner.

Walkowitz's (1878-1965) fascination with American dancer Isadora Duncan (1877-1927) is manifest in the many hundreds, if not thousands, of drawings he made of her dancing (see also lots 61-65 and 67). At the end of his career, the artist remarked, "She [Duncan] had no laws. She did not dance according to the rules. She created. Her body was music."
