ADOLPHE MOURON CASSANDRE (1901-1968)

FLÈCHE D'ARGENT / AÉROPOSTALE. 1929.

39¼x24¼ inches, 99½x61½ cm. Courbet, Paris.
Condition A- / A: minor repaired tears at bottom margin; minor creases and restoration in image.

Aéropostale was originally named Lignes Aériennes Latécoère after its founder and airplane manufacturer, Pierre G. Latécoère. His first flight between Paris and Morocco was in 1919. The company assumed the name Aéropostale in 1927, and they initiated their Paris, Bordeaux and Biarritz route in July 1928. Cassandre depicts a Latécoère 28 slicing through the sky like an extension of the clouds around it.
