ADOLPHE MOURON CASSANDREDUBONNET.
67x48 inches. Axel Andreasen, Copenhagen.
Condition A-: minor discoloration in image and at edges; 2 sheets.
The Dubo-Dubon-Dubonnet logotype is certainly one of the most spectacular and memorable of all of Cassandre's creations. The comic little man, sitting at a bistro table, who fills himself with color as he drinks is a brilliant conceit that has become a landmark of French pop culture. Thanks to the little man whose appearance has graced everything from ashtrays to menus to fans to playing cards, Dubonnet became one of the most popular French apertifs. In 1942 Paul Rand adapted the image for the American market, and most likely around the same time, the Danish used the final of the three images in this advertisement, which is a high quality lithograph, every bit as sharp as the 1932 first French printing.
