While most of the printed work of the Haarlem artist Van Ostade (1610-1685) depicts scenes of peasant life, this etching shows 2 fishermen on a bridge set in a landscape that shares the sketch-like quality of many of Rembrandt's landscapes from the same time. Bartsch 26; Godefroy 26.
