Additional Details

Unpublished annotated bibliography of octavo-format variorum editions (i. e., containing textual variants and notes by various scholars), primarily of writings by Greek and Roman authors, also covering those of some later European writers. It comprises a preface discussing the background and scope of the work followed by several hundred short-title entries with bibliographical or textual comments. Adry (1749-1818) was a classical scholar, librarian of the Maison de l''Oratoire, and bibliographer. His few and scarce published works include a pioneering dictionary of children''s games and an early attempt at a complete bibliography of Elzevier imprints; his 6-volume bibliography of Oratorian authors remains in manuscript.
