Engraving, 1582-85. 148x122 mm; 6x5 inches. Second state (of 2). With the artist's name lower left but before the removal of the castle center background. Mermaid watermark. Ex-collection Josepg Grünling (Lugt 1463, verso). Trimmed on or just inside the plate mark, with the enitre subject preserved. A superb, well-inked impression of this very scarce engraving, with strong contrasts and no sign of wear.
We have not found another impression of this engraving at auction in the past 25 years. Bartsch 259; Bohlin 95.
