ALBERT BRENET (1905-2005) AIR ALGÉRIE / "CONSTELLATION." Circa 1955. 39 1/4x24 1/2 inches, 99 1/2x62 1/4 cm. La Photolith, Paris. Condition A-: minor creases and abrasions at edges. This particular Lockheed Constellation L-749A, was built for Air France and went into service in 1950. In December of 1955 she was transferred to Air Algeria. On April 26th, 1962, this aircraft (F-BAZE) was blown up at Algeria's International Airport (Maison Blanche), by a militant French terrorist group opposed to Algerian independence. Although there were no fatalities, the aircraft was damaged beyond repaired by the explosion.
