ALBERT FUSS (1889-1969) DRITTE FRANKFURTER INTERNATIONALE MESSE. 1920.
291/2x191/2 inches. Wusten & Co., Frankfurt.
Condition B+: minor paper loss and staining in top and bottom margins; tape stains on verso; creases in image. Paper.
Fuss, who is primarily known for the extensive body of work he created for the Hamburg America Shipping Line in the 1930s and 40s, shows his youthful, avant-garde abilities here with an extraordinary neo-expressionistic composition. The creative image, with its strong colors and distorted perspective, rare for this kind of a common event, displays a ship, people walking into the fairgrounds, flags and a factory, all dynamically arranged in superimposed planes. Verfuhrungen 30, Zwanziger Jahre p. 24.
