ALBERT SEBILLE (1874-1953) FRENCH LINE / PARIS - HAVRE - NEW YORK. Circa 1935.
39x24 1/2 inches, 99x62 1/4 cm. "Nova," Paris.
Condition B+: replaced losses and repaired tears in margins; creases and abrasions in margins and image; repaired pin holes in corners. Framed.
As made clear in this poster, a passenger could now travel directly from Paris to New York, via train and ship, with the transfer from rail to sea being a simple, elegant process. Judging by the number of lifeboats depicted, it is likely that the waiting ship is the Normandie. Sebille was an accomplished maritime artist who created many posters for the French Line. Le Train p. 155, La Mer p. 137.
