Drypoint, 1512. 208x178 mm; 8 1/4x7 inches. Third state (of 3). A good Meder b impression in this state. High crown watermark (Meder 30, which he dates to circa 1550). Ex-collection Kunsthalle, Hamburg (Lugt 1235 and 1328, verso). Trimmed on or just inside the plate mark.
An extremely scarce print, one of only three known drypoints by Dürer. We have found only 8 other impressions of this subject at auction in the past 25 years. Bartsch 59; Meder 58.
