Woodcut, 1518. 299x212 mm; 11 7/8x8 3/8 inches. A brilliant, early Meder Ia impression, with even the most densely cross-hatched areas printing dark and clearly. Ex-collection Robert Scholtz (Lugt 2241, verso). Trimmed on the outer edge of the border line.
According to Lugt, Scholtz had an extraordinary collection of Dürer prints ("très bel oeuvre de Dürer") which was sold at H. G. Gutekunst, Stuttgart, in 1911. Bartsch 101; Meder 211.
