ALDO MAZZA (1880-1964)

MAGAZZINI "VITTORIA." 1909.

77 1/2x54 1/4 inches, 196 3/4x137 3/4 cm. Montofano & Valcareghi, Milan and Lefranc & Cie., Paris.
Condition B+ / A-: repaired tears at edges, some into image; repaired tears, creases and minor abrasions at edges and along vertical and horizontal folds; lower left corner reattached. Two-sheets. Mounted on paper.

This image for a women's clothier is one of Mazza's most spectacular and sensuous posters. It depicts a lithe and graceful woman enveloping herself within the multi-colored fabrics sold here. Her beauty is such that the peacock at her feet is looking up at her with jealousy. The proud and beautiful peacock has often been a symbol of Art Nouveau. Manifesti Italiano 215.
